DEFINING, ASSESSING AND MANAGING RISK  AT NONPROFITS

A Day of Brainstorming for Nonprofit Executives, Board Members, and Capacity Builders

Wednesday, September 28, 20169:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Baruch College – 55 Lexington Avenue (at 24th Street), 14th Floor

Cost: Free

We imagine this as a first step in the development of a collective approach to risk management for New York City’s nonprofit sector.  Capacity building organizations are joining together to think together about the framework for risk assessment and are seeking input from a variety of stakeholders.  Your participation in this day long brainstorming event will help shape a collective road map for risk management for this critical sector.

Risk is inherent to the work of nonprofits and has recently received a great deal of attention. Responding to the heightened awareness of risk, capacity builders are organizing to develop a collective definition and approach. We hope you will join us in this exciting endeavor by joining us on September 28th!

An interactive day facilitated to advance our collective knowledge of the discipline of risk management.  During this day, we will:

  • Define risk and the approaches to manage opportunities and challenges of risk taking;
  • Explore what tools exists to manage risk and define what is needed;
  • Develop ideas of what more can be done to understand the parameters of risk and risk-taking for nonprofits; and
  • Inform the work of capacity building organizations to more effectively support this work.

See the following recent reports related to risk:
