Planning for and Navigating Executive Transition
October 13 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm$50
All organizations inevitably face the transition from one leader to the next, and board members and staff leaders play crucial roles in helping their organizations navigate this process successfully. Designed for EDs, senior staff, and board members, this session will outline the typology of leadership transition and invite participants to think through how different transition scenarios require different preparation, planning, and execution. We’ll then discuss how organizations can assess their readiness for executive transition and what types of outside support are available and appropriate for organizations navigating transition.
In this workshop, participants will:
- learn what the common types of transition are and how those types require different preparatory and planning steps.
- learn how to assess:
- their own organization’s readiness to respond to and manage a transition; and
- their potential need for outside support.
- gain an understanding of the key pivot points where transitions can succeed or run into obstacles and learn how to identify and avoid pitfalls.
- learn about the landscape of available leadership transition supports and also learn how to vet and select firms/individuals.
This workshop is best suited for:
- Board leaders
- Senior staff
