About Social Impact Exchange
The Exchange is a national membership association that was launched in 2009 with funding from Robert Wood Johnson, Rockefeller and Gates Foundations. Its goal is to help create a society where all individuals can thrive, with a particular focus on addressing systemic racial inequities that continue to marginalize BIPOC communities. It now has 6,000+ multi-sector members interested in learning and collaborating on initiatives that can shift systems and achieve large scale equitable impact on difficult social problems. This includes major shifts in mindsets, power, and societal structures and resources flows to support equity and racial equity. Its purpose is to serve as a focal point and forum for those interested in further building the field of equitable systems change.

The Exchange has three main functions: (a) Establish diverse, multi-sector collaborative networks and funder collaboratives that fund and advance initiatives that together can achieve systems change and large-scale impact; (b) Develop and share knowledge, on systems change, collaboration and large-scale impact; (c) Build field infrastructure that enables community-involved collective action focused on systems change to emerge as a primary approach to addressing complex social problems. This includes establishing communities of funders and stakeholders that develop solutions together and co-fund initiatives that lead to equitable systems transformation. SIE seeks to continuously adapt and improve its own culture and operations to center equity in all its forms so that it does not reinforce norms that are disempowering and non-inclusive.
