Title: Program Coordinator
Start Date: November 4, 2024
Location: This position is New York-based, though hybrid, with mandatory in-person on Wednesdays 9:30-5:30 pm and one other day a week.
Organizational Background: The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation’s only pan-Asian children’s advocacy organization. CACF aims to improve the health and well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islander children in New York City. Founded in 1986, CACF advocates for culturally competent, linguistically appropriate, and immigrant-accessible services for children and families of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian, Central Asian, and Pacific Islander backgrounds.
Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities is a program that aims to support the mental health of AAPI youth and promote racial healing amongst youth and their families. It includes a workshop series, a Youth Fellowship, and a family engagement initiative. The Youth Fellowship is a youth-led train-the-trainer program under Healing Ourselves that prepares a cohort of past workshop participants to adapt and facilitate the workshop series for other youth.
CACF is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to support facilitation of CACF’s Healing Ourselves Youth Fellowship and the expansion of CACF’s family engagement programming.
Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to CACF’s Senior Program Coordinators, the Program Coordinator will support the coordination and implementation of CACF’s leadership development programs. The main responsibility of this role will be to facilitate the Winter and Summer cohorts of CACF’s Healing Ourselves Youth Fellowship. This includes training, supporting, and communicating with Youth Fellows with the support of CACF’s Senior Program Coordinators. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and facilitation of CACF’s family engagement work to foster identity development, community-building, and advocacy skills among families within CACF’s communities.
Outside of these main responsibilities, the Program Coordinator, as part of the Leadership Development Team, will also provide support across CACF’s Leadership Development programming, including, but not limited to, other work under Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities, leadership development workshops and trainings for CACF member organizations, the AAPI-LEAD Youth Conference, and the Asian American Student Advocacy Project as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Co-plan and facilitate trainings, debriefs, check-ins, and convenings for CACF’s Healing Ourselves Youth Fellowship
- Manage Youth Fellows and support their individual and collective growth
- Support other aspects of the Healing Ourselves program, such as recruitment and organizational relationship development
- Support the development, coordination, and facilitation of CACF’s family engagement work
- Facilitate info sessions and notetaking for the Anti-Racist Parent Workshops
- Coordinate communication with the Parent Advisory Committee Group
- Facilitate and support other Social Justice Leadership Institute (SJLI)’s programming as needed
- Attend and/or support CACF’s events as needed
Qualifications, Education and Experience
Required
- Demonstrated commitment to CACF’s mission and social justice
- Understanding of social justice concepts including those impacting the AAPI community such as the model minority myth; equity, equality, and justice; racism and white supremacy; etc.
- Familiarity with applying a systems-based lens and analysis, and familiarity with the process of critical consciousness development
- Strong facilitation skills, comfortable with public speaking for a variety of audiences
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong notetaking and analysis skills
- Demonstrated professional experience in program development, design and/or evaluation
- Demonstrated professional experience in working with youth and/or parents and families
- Passion for working with youth, parents, and families
- Ability to work with diverse staff and flexibility to work on multiple tasks under pressure
- Strong collaborative approach to working with a team
- Ability to set priorities among multiple responsibilities
- Self-starter and comfortable taking initiative
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
Preferred
- Fluency (speaking and/or reading) in an AAPI language

Salary:
This is a full-time position. The starting salary is $60,000.
