ABOUT FRESH YOUTH INITIATIVES (FYI)
FYI is a dynamic community-based organization that offers immigrant and first-generation youth the tools, supports, and caring relationships that empower them to navigate transitions, connect to their community, flourish in school, and prepare for college and career.
Founded in 1993, FYI operates programs at five sites in Washington Heights/Inwood where 1,200 children participate in afterschool programs, summer camps, service-learning, advisory, and mental health services. As a result of community needs that arose during the pandemic, FYI grew into a multi-service organization that stabilizes fragile families through food relief, social services, and mental health counseling. FYI recently applied to the NYS Office of Mental Health to open a licensed behavioral mental health clinic, slated to open within the next 12 months.
With an annual budget of $3.9M and 70 part-time and full-time staff members, FYI is continuing its growth trajectory to meet the needs of youth and families in the community. The work culture at FYI encourages creativity, responsibility, and constructive teamwork.
