As a key member of the Development Team, the Development Operations Manager helps to raise critical funds necessary to transform lives at The Bowery Mission. The Development Operations Manager supports the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Director of Major Gifts and Campaign to achieve annual Development Team goals.

The Development Operations Manager plays a critical role in partnering with the CDO who provides leadership for all aspects of fundraising and partnerships, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate, foundation, community and church partnerships, volunteers, fundraising events, donor engagement and stewardship, gift-in-kind donations, donor database, and direct response marketing. On behalf of the CDO, the Development Operations Manager facilitates collaboration between staff members to accomplish shared goals and implements and manages internal systems and processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations in a way that provides superior, personal, responsive, relevant, timely, and productive relationships with donors and other stakeholders/constituents. The Development Operations Manager also provides strategic support to the CDO with major donor relationships.

The Development Operations Manager assists the Director of Major Gifts & Campaign in support of annual major gifts, legacy gifts, and campaign goals, providing strategic and administrative support.

Reports to: Director of Major Gifts & Campaign

Specific Responsibilities:

Support the Chief Development Officer (CDO):

Work closely with the CDO to coordinate team communications, cross-division communications, and record-keeping.
Assist in managing department priorities and projects.
Track and assist with caseload management of key major donors.
Assist CDO with presentations and reports.
Manage or assist with projects and administrative tasks.
Develop a general knowledge of the various Development departments, anticipating needs of the CDO as it relates to the team.
Take the lead on all process and operations communications for the Development Team, and play a key leadership role in managing general Development Operations.
Facilitate collaboration between staff members organization-wide to accomplish shared goals.
Act as a team resource knowledge hub.
Support the Director of Major Gifts & Campaign with administrative and strategic support, not limited to, but to include the following:

Manage the annual major gifts caseload review process.
Provide administrative and strategic support for the legacy giving strategy.
In support of the Love Well Campaign, resource Development Officers with updated campaign collateral.
Prepare for campaign committee meetings.

Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and implement new initiatives to increase efficiencies and effectiveness within a team
Project management experience and ability to manage competing priorities
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills
Strong administrative and organizational skills with high-level attention to detail
Competency with Outlook Calendar and Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe DC and Google Suite
A demonstrated passion for the community served by The Bowery Mission
Ability to travel within the NYC metro area and participate in donor-focused events held on evenings, select holidays, and weekends

Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising or CRM database
