Create Hope - Cultivate Community

Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC) is a non-profit organization transforming the lives of children and families in Hunts Point, a vibrant South Bronx neighborhood with significant opportunity to improve child well-being. Founded in 2006 in response to the low education outcomes of at-risk students in Hunts Point, HPAC pursued the bold mission of expanding the hopes and potential of the neighborhood and its families. The organization accomplishes this by nurturing children and youth along their path to college or career. Since its founding, HPAC has grown to become a central community leader and currently serves approximately 300 children across programs that target early learning all the way through college.

HPAC is building on success as it searches for a Director of Programs who can create a supportive, growth-focused program team of content-expert managers, increase the number of students served, and effectively advise on data driven decisions to drive high-quality program implementation.

HPAC’s work falls into four program areas:

● Early Childhood Education, Youth Development and Scholar Support, The Family Project, and Alliance and Community. Early Childhood Education focuses on building early learning and executive functioning skills for children ages 0-8.
● Youth Development and Scholarship Support includes HPAC’s Community to Career Pipeline for children in grades 4-12, including transitions into middle school, high school, and college.
● The Family Project helps Hunts Point families to achieve household stability so that they can provide their children with a nurturing, secure, and supportive environment.
● Community Partnership and convening: bringing together the neighborhood’s schools and community-based organizations, aligning their efforts, expanding opportunities, and leveraging resources to connect every family with much-needed support. Partnerships include two district schools, three charter schools, one independent school, as well as the local Head Start. HPAC also works closely with city-sponsored afterschool programming, the local community health center and clinic, and an array of local CBOs serving Hunts Point youth.
