The Assistant to the Director provides administrative support as needed to the leader of the Education Department and serving, as needed, in the absence of the Director. The UVSO education department consist of two pre-school sites, two EHS sites, an on-site teen center and off-site after-school programs operating in two (2) public elementary schools within the Vailsburg community. The Assistant will support the Director to ensure compliance and seamless operations across all programs. This is a temporary position with the possibility of permanent placement.

Essential Responsibilities
·       Monitor benchmarks and evaluate program implementation.

·       Weekly monitoring and monthly reporting on program budget, performance, and special projects as directed by the Associate director.

·       Assist with the reporting and performance highlights for all programs.

·       Help to resolve operating issues and facilitate a collaborative relationship amongst staff.

·       Maintain a firm grasp on staffing assignment to support the Director with center personnel and substitute schedules.

·       Assure the maintenance of accurate and complete student records.

·       Assist with the onboarding and training of staff upon hire to help ensure high level of job performance execution.

·       Write and produce communications for distribution to the parents and staff.

·       Support weekly department meetings as needed.

·       Maintain a strong knowledge of asynchronous and synchronous instruction to support teachers as directed.

·       Establish systems to monitor the implementation and execution of required programming

·       Complete special projects as assigned by the Associate Director.

Other Responsibilities
·                 Oversee or participate on committees for special programs and projects with agency partners as needed

Key Qualifications
·       Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education, recreation, psychology, sociology or related field. Masters preferred.

·       2+ years of experience in program management, youth development, early childhood education, general education, or related field.

·       Working knowledge of “creative curriculum”.

·       High level of computer literacy and familiarity with web-based programs.

·       Experience working under NJ state licensing guidelines and protocols

·       Working knowledge of “creative curriculum”.

·       A demonstrated passion for working with urban youth and a demonstrated belief in UVSO’s mission to create a stable and compassionate community.

·       Excellent analytic, organizational, written and verbal, and digital skills.

·       Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders including religious groups, diverse cultures, parents, elder caregivers, staffers and youth.

·       Ability to inspire staff, youth, parents and community to volunteer, engage, and build comradery.

·       Strong working knowledge of technology and systems

 

Preferred Qualifications
·       Teaching experience in early childhood education

·       Working knowledge of early childhood education standards
