Over the past year, Support Center’s board and staff with the help of our partners have begun the longer-term work of reimagining our organization and our programs in light of our vision for social change. We acknowledge that in past examinations of our values and commitments we made certain assumptions about “positive social change” that didn’t specifically address the “isms” that we face everyday—racism, sexism, ableism among others.
It is through this lens we have continued the evolution of our organizational mission, vision, values, DEI objectives, and supporting definitions adopted by the Support Center board in December 2021. This included deliberations around our future direction through that equity lens resulting in a revised mission to empower nonprofits and social enterprises to transform their leadership and management and advance our vision for social change. The supporting strategies in the years ahead will focus on partnerships, talent development, access, infrastructure and sustainability.
