Deputy Director – Job Description

Aubin Pictures is searching for a Deputy Director, a critical leadership role in our mission to create cultural awareness and strategic, sustainable justice through transformative, community-based production and impactful distribution of media. As Deputy Director, you will drive organizational development, manage staff, drive the strategic direction of our programs, and serve as a critical bridge between programmatic and operational work.
Who we are: Aubin Pictures is a nonprofit organization for filmmakers and activists that’s run by filmmakers and activists. We were founded in 1996 by documentary filmmaker and lifelong activist Catherine Gund and scholar, activist, and organizer Scot Nakagawa. Aubin’s work covers a range of topics including art and culture, racial justice, the LGBTQ+ community, reproductive justice, HIV/AIDS, and the concept of democracy. Our feature-length documentaries have received wide recognition with hundreds of film festival screenings and awards, Discovery, Sundance, and PBS broadcasts, two Emmy nominations, and other accolades over the years.

Details: This is a full-time position based in our New York City office. You will report to Founder and Director Catherine Gund.

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS
The Deputy Director must be able to build and sustain excellent relationships internally and with key community members and other stakeholders. Our ideal candidate is passionate about our vision and our work, is self-driven, fun, and inspiring to work with, and most importantly would become an indispensable member of our organization, leading us to operational sustainability and resilience. In particular, they will have broad experience building strong working relationships across lines of difference, including gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and class and will speak comfortably to their progress in their own racial equity journey.
Skills & Qualifications
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$110,000 annually with 16 holidays plus generous time off policy, and 100% employer paid medical insurance.
