Position Description
Recruiting, engaging and managing excellent volunteers is crucial to the success of the ANY programs. The Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Director will serve as the national lead for volunteer recruitment, developing strategy, planning 60+ volunteer engagement opportunities per year, and liaising with recruitment chairs from Associate Boards. The Director will collaborate with the External Affairs team to support alumni initiatives, including but not limited to Mentor Coach Alumni participation in workshops and social and fundraising events.

The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of recruiting a large number of volunteers, display meticulous attention to detail, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be highly-organized. We are looking for a strong and charismatic communicator, someone who will harness the energy and spirit of our volunteers (highly accomplished young professionals) to create impact for the students we serve. As ANY workshops are held on Saturdays and recruitment events may occur in the evenings, this position will require flexibility and willingness to work nontraditional work hours.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit up to 5,000 volunteers annually to serve in a variety of engagements across ANY programs
  • Develop a national recruitment plan that contains best practices and timelines to ensure alignment across all markets
  • Create a national volunteer pipeline for local sites and identify plans for long-term stewardship
  • Research national service and professional affinity groups to strengthen volunteer pipelines
  • Host a series of national volunteer recruitment events to include information sessions, career roundtables, and other engagement events
  • Develop and execute a standard stewardship plan to ensure volunteers receive high quality customer service and timely communications from point of entry to end of service (inclusive of hosting weekly info sessions, events, and short-and long-term volunteer commitments)
  • Manage ANY’s volunteer systems and portals for centralized volunteer logistics and communications
  • Coordinate with Executive Directors and Associate Boards to engage local partners and identify opportunities to grow volunteer commitments
  • Work with Chief External Affairs Officer to develop robust volunteer recruitment marketing materials; collaborate with the External Affairs team on robust volunteer recruitment communications campaigns
  • In collaboration with the Chief External Affairs Officer and local site leadership, identify a robust corporate partnership prospect list from short-term volunteer and Mentor Coach employer companies
  • In collaboration with External Affairs and local site leadership, meet with 10+ companies quarterly
  • Host highly customized engagement events with ANY’s 15+ national partners
  • Other duties as determined and assigned by ANY

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in successful large-scale volunteer recruitment, including short-term and long-term volunteers
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Expertise in guiding organizations to achieve volunteer recruitment goals
  • Managed programs with 80% retention of volunteers
  • Knowledge and expertise on large-scale volunteer recruitment pipelines
  • Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interest in and willingness to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of energy, proactivity, and commitment
  • Data-driven and systems-oriented (Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Microsoft Excel, required and experience with Salesforce preferred)
