The Assistant Director, High School Affairs will oversee the ongoing implementation and refinement of AJC’s advocacy program for teens: Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) as well as the student-facing strategy for all of AJC’s high school engagement. S/he will also be critical in designing and managing the LFT curriculum, alumni experience, program in AJC regional offices. In partnership with others on the Alexander Young Leadership team, this person will manage the expansion of the core LFT program as well as standalone national programs tailored to LFT students including LFT Advocacy Day and LFT programming at the AJC Global Forum. This role will also expand AJC’s high school efforts to address growing antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric experienced by students at the high school-level.

Position Responsibilities:

●       Oversee the implementation and refinement of AJC’s nationwide Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program to help high school students develop a strong Jewish identity and train them as advocates for Israel and voices against antisemitism.

●       Work with AJC’s Alexander Young Leadership department and AJC’s Contemporary Jewish Life department to design, update and adapt the national LFT curriculum to meet the needs of Jewish students.

●       Create curriculum, marketing, and recruitment materials for LFT regions, lay leadership, and outside partners including managing the operations of administering LFT across the country.

●       Serve as AJC’s expert voice on issues pertaining to Jewish students within the high school sphere.

●       Act as a resource to high school students or groups who are facing antisemitism or anti-Israel incidents.

●       Work closely in partnership with the Director of Alexander Young Leadership, Director of Academic Affairs, and Director of Contemporary Jewish Life to ensure that AJC’s high school student strategy compliments AJC’s high school-administrator strategy.

●       Represent AJC’s Leaders for Tomorrow program in both internal and external programming to expose stakeholders to our work.

●       Design national programs for LFT students including AJC’s annual LFT Advocacy Day and LFT-specific programming at the AJC Global Forum.

●       Work with colleagues throughout the organization to integrate LFT students and alumni into AJC advocacy campaigns, programs, and opportunities.

●       In partnership with the Associate Director of Development, help refine and implement AJC’s LFT parent engagement strategy.

●       Launch national recruitment programs to encourage increased student applicants to LFT.

●       Design professional development opportunities for LFT facilitators including AJC’s annual LFT Staff Retreat.

●       Work closely with Campus Affairs to establish a national LFT alumni strategy and opportunities for LFT alumni on campus.

●       Serve as a resource to LFT students and parents across the country.

●       Consider and develop new partnerships and programs for Jewish high school students to become global Jewish advocates.

Qualifications:

●        Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, and 3-5 years of work experience in the field of advocacy, Jewish education, or Israel-related programming.

●        Self-starter who collaborates seamlessly with colleagues both inside and outside AJC.

●        Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

●        Fundraising experience.

●        Alignment with AJC’s mission and diplomatic style, with knowledge and passion for the organization’s key issues (including Israel, world Jewry, human rights, international relations, foreign policy, and democratic institutions).

●        Strong background and understanding of issues related to Jewish identity, Israel, and antisemitism.

●        Ability to multi-task and work on many projects simultaneously.

●        Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and lay leadership.

●        Ability to work effectively under pressure, make difficult decisions and follow through on agreed upon initiatives.

●        An entrepreneurial mindset; able to identify and pursue opportunities.

●        Fluency in social media.
