Organizational Background: Founded in 1986, the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation’s only pan-Asian children and families’ advocacy organization that brings together community-based organizations as well as youth and parents to fight for equity for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) children and families. In addition to its work to improve the health and well-being of AAPI children in New York City, CACF works to transform the AAPI community by fostering collaboration, promoting community leadership, and building a collective voice.

Reporting to the Co-Executive Directors, and in close partnership with the CACF Board of Directors, the Senior Development Manager will design and oversee fundraising strategies that lead to a sustainable and diversified funding stream that includes individual and major gifts, foundation grants, corporate gifts, planned giving, online donations, and special events.

Job Description

  • Work with the Board of Directors, Co-Executive Directors, senior staff and consultants to execute annual fundraising plan.
  • Oversee and maintain CACF’s annual fundraising calendar to ensure critical annual fundraising activities are carried out in a timely manner.
  • When appropriate, work collaboratively with CACF’s policy and program staff on fundraising efforts.
  • Oversee the CACF’s donor management system so that all donor information is accurate and as up to date as possible; ensure proper gift processing, acknowledgements, and reports, upcoming deadlines for proposals and reports.
  • Co-supervise Development Associate in close collaboration with Director of Operations.
  • Research and identify major individual donors and work on major individual donor strategy with key staff and board.
  • Oversee annual appeal campaigns including Giving Tuesday and the Annual appeal; create, plan and execute targeted events that engage top-tier donors and volunteers.
  • Oversee the coordination of the annual gala and other fundraising events from conceptualization, planning to execution to event follow-up.  (Net goal: $150,000 / Gross goal: $250,000)
  • Track grant deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, applications, budgets, reports and other correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Assist in reviewing RFPs; assess compatibility with CACF mission and programs; coordinate responses and submit funding proposals as appropriate.
  • Cultivate and develop ongoing relationships with funders including foundations, corporations, government entities, and other strategic partners.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three to five years of development experience in a non-profit organization or functional equivalent.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive communicator with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven fundraising track record that includes foundations, corporations, government entities, individual donors, and/or elected officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage varied constituencies, including Board members, staff, individual donors, institutional funders, and community partners.
  • Excellent skills in researching and identifying sources of new funding.
  • Working knowledge of New York City’s philanthropic community and government leadership.
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to set priorities among multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Office Suite and fundraising databases.
  • Passionate about issues affecting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and social justice.
  • Working knowledge of the AAPI philanthropic landscape preferred.
